Cinderella fun thanks to Sainsburys!

A gift for our daughter's 5 year old birthday gets the big thumbs up!!

Fairy-tales are brilliant! For hundreds of years, children have enjoyed them and our little one is no exception! Cinderella happens to be her favourite and when a friend sent her a set of fantastic activity books from Sainsbury's, it was the first one she wanted to try out!

The books offer a range of fun activities such as sticking stickers to create the story, colouring by numbers, craft activities and recipes. We started off by creating the recipe for "Pumpkin soup" although it being not the right season for pumpkins, we improvised using butternut squash and sweet potato instead!! It was a great activity to do as she was involved in helping to prepare the vegetables for roasting, smelling the garlic and even helping with the blending part at the end!

It was also a great opportunity for her to eat foods she doesn't usually try such as onions and garlic. By blending them she couldn't see them in her bowl, but she knew they were there to add flavour to her soup! Great for getting vegetables into those fussy eaters and healthy too!

The soup was also a big hit with our nearly 8 month old, who enjoyed discovering the new tastes and textures of the ingredients in the soup! We made it for Daddy as a surprise lunch and he said it was the best soup he had ever tasted! Praise indeed! After all that fun, we made the tiaras/crowns using the method inside the book and some paper plates! Daddy loved doing the activity with her!

The great thing is that with this activity book, we can spread the activities over a couple of days! We have a recipe for fairy wands to bake another day as well as some other activities in the book to do. We can link it too with other Cinderella things like dressing up in her costume, making a palace out of cardboard boxes and watching the film together!

Then, we can move on to a couple of other books in the series : Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and The Beanstalk! Watch this space as I will be sharing a couple of the activities from those books very soon!!
