Recipe for sand dough!

Our outdoor activity brought nature into our playdough again!!

Our daughter loves her sandpit! It is great when the weather is good enough for her to get outside to explore it! Whilst she was out exploring her sand tray, I suddenly had an idea.....was it possible to mix sand in a playdough recipe to bring a bit of a beach theme to her garden play??? Of course, the Internet had its answers and as with so many different playdough ideas, sand playdough was an idea someone had already mastered!!

I decided to try a recipe I found on the website link http://www.creativeplayhouse.mumsinjersey.co.uk/2013/07/natural-sand-playdough.html

The recipe was simple and I just happened to have the ingedients to hand! All you need is:

2 cups of flour
About 1 cup of warm water

1 Tbsp Oil

At least 1 cup of sand

All you do is simply mix the ingredients together and create a fun, textured dough! I found the recipe made quite a sticky dough, but adding some extra flour seemed to remedy this. I gave the dough to my daughter outside with some shells and some of her sand toys.

This playdough seemed to be a huge hit! She loved the fact the dough looked like sand and felt a bit like sand, yet she could make things out of it like playdough!! The shells proved a great addition, as she was able to create prints in the dough. It definitely is a recipe worth giving a go!
