Mermaid creative fun!

                                                  Making  Swirly Tailed Mermaids!!

Like many young girls, my daughter loves mermaids! A while back, I bought a mermaid activity book from Books For Bugs and recently, I decided it was time to give something a little try. The activity which jumped out the most was this one, to create a swirly tailed mermaid!
All you need is:
  • Scissors
  • Coloured paper
  • White paper
  • Glitter/tissue paper/sequins
  • Pens
  • Glue

With my daughter being a little younger, I drew the mermaids top half for her to decorate. She used tissue paper and sequins to create hair and her top. I then drew a swirl on a piece of coloured paper, which I cut out carefully and stuck to the bottom of the mermaid to create the tail. To get the best effect, I made a hole at the top of the mermaid and placed some coloured ribbon in it to hang up. This made the swirly tail work very well and her mermaid has pride of place in her playroom, hanging by the window!!

It is well worth a try!!
