A year reviewed

It is amazing just how much happens and changes within a year!!
2012 has been a truly eventful year for Great Britain. The Queens jubilee and the Olympics in London are the obvious events which have really enthralled and effected us this year. There are also many events which have meant something to people on a personal level.

At this time of year, many people concentrate on the downsides of the year gone by. For me, my lowest time came a few months ago when I had a real downer on life. I was fed up with the day to day familiarity of being a stay at home Mum and began to come across to others as being ungrateful for what I have. The truth is, I was feeling really low and one day I just woke up and felt like there had been a weight lifted off of my shoulders. It was weird and I regret that I ever felt that way about my life, but the reality is that I have a fantastic family and a great advantage of being able to be at home to raise my lovely daughter.

And this is what we as parents need to remember to for this New Years Eve.........look back at our children and the joys they have brought over the last year. Just get a few photographs out and see how much your child has changed, as I have done here! This time last year, my daughter had only been walking a couple of months and was still a little wobbly, where as now she is running around confidently. Her language has improved so much so that I can have full conversations with her, and generally have a good idea of what she is talking about!!

I have learnt how to deal with illnesses and trips to A and E, how to beat Croup, how to deal with my own child's tantrums (so different from dealing with other children's!) and how to deal with a toddler who is potty training when you visit the zoo........I have learnt all the locations of toilets in my local town!! Best of all, I have learnt how to move into a new house with a toddler in tow!!

I have also been very lucky to work with some great people who have taken an interest in what I do on the website such as Parental Choice and other wonderful people who have followed me on twitter or became a fan on Facebook.

So whatever bad things have occurred to you in 2012, try and remember the little things which have made your year good with your children. Remember the smiles, laughter and joy they have brought you and hope for even more with the next year.

Have a fantastic New Year 2013 and thank you for supporting Childcare Clair in 2012
